Province Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Niiwin Wendaanimok (Four Winds Group)
The KEEPHWY17NORTH lobby group has been formed by cottagers, property owners and environmentalists who want to ensure the protection of the water quality and natural environment of Clearwater Bay and the Lake of the Woods area; safeguarding its pristine waterfront, forest, wildlife habitat and fisheries which so enhance its values, community and quality of life.
Our dual objectives are to ensure no impact to the no impact to the environmentally sensitive area south of Hwy 17 and that to ensure that safety is optimized throughout the Highway 17 corridor including the Community of Clearwater Bay.
This goal will be achieved by lobbying the Federal and Ontario Governments, their agencies, the Ministry of Transportation Ontario, WSP consultants and other persons of interest to keep the new roadbed and all associated construction with the four-laning of Highway 17 north of the existing roadbed from Gundy Lake/Rush Bay to the Kenora 17A bypass (Section 2/3)
The group is a non-profit volunteer organization of like-minded individuals who will speak collectively on this issue
